If you’re looking for the ultimate "one-stop shop" in South Anchorage, the Dimond Center at 800 E Dimond Blvd is the place where locals go to get everything done in one trip. It’s the largest enclosed mall in Alaska, and honestly, it feels more like a mini-city than a typical shopping center. Whether you’re trying to beat the winter chill or just need a central spot to meet up with friends, its location right at the corner of the Old Seward Highway and Dimond Boulevard makes it incredibly easy to reach from just about anywhere in town.
What really sets the Dimond Center apart from any other mall is the entertainment. It’s one of the few places where you can go shopping for a new outfit at H&M or lululemon and then immediately go ice skating at the indoor Ice Chalet right in the middle of the atrium. If skating isn't your thing, there’s also a high-end bowling alley, a massive Dave & Buster’s, and a Regal Cinemas with those luxury recliner seats that make it hard to stay awake through the trailers. It’s basically the headquarters for family weekend fun in Anchorage.
For the shoppers, the variety is pretty unbeatable for Alaska. You’ve got the heavy hitters like Best Buy, Old Navy, and Ulta Beauty, but there are also a lot of local favorites tucked in there, like Bosco’s Comics and Habitat Housewares. If you get hungry, you aren’t stuck with just standard food court snacks (though they have those, too). You can sit down for a real meal at Olive Garden, Chili’s, or Pho Saigon, or grab something unique like a Korean corn dog or fresh French macarons.
The mall is super accessible with plenty of free parking, and if you’re coming from out of town, there’s even a Dimond Center Hotel right on the property. It’s a very "Alaskan" mall—rugged enough for the regulars in Carhartts but nice enough for a Saturday night date. The hours are reliable, too: they are open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and Sundays from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Whether you need to fix your phone, buy a gift, or just let the kids burn off some energy on the ice, Dimond Center is a local tradition that never gets old.
