If you’re looking for a classic, "no-frills" diner experience in the heart of Midtown, Leroy's Family Restaurant at 2420 C St is a true Anchorage staple. It’s the kind of place that feels like a time capsule in the best way possible—think cozy vinyl booths, wood-paneled walls, and the comforting sound of a busy griddle. It’s a favorite for everyone from JBER service members to local workers who just want a massive plate of home-cooked food without any of the downtown pretentiousness.

The menu is pure comfort, and the portions are famously "Alaska-sized," meaning you’ll likely need a box for later. If you’re coming for breakfast, you have to try their Sourdough Pancakes; many locals swear they’re the best in the city. Another big hit is the Reindeer Sausage Skillet, which is basically a requirement if you want the full Alaskan diner experience. They also do a mean Beef Dip and classic Chicken Fried Steak that hit the spot when you need something hearty to get you through a cold afternoon.

What really makes Leroy's stand out is the staff. It’s one of those rare spots where the servers actually remember your name and how you like your coffee. It’s got a "Cheers" vibe where you’ll see regulars chatting across the aisle and families grabbing a Saturday morning meal together. It’s not about fancy presentation or "fusion" trends here—it’s about reliable, tasty food and friendly service that makes you feel like you’re sitting in your own kitchen.

While it used to be a 24-hour legend, the hours have shifted a bit lately, so it's good to check before you head over. Currently, they are generally open daily from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM, though they often start winding down for new customers around 10:00 PM. Whether you’re fueling up for a long road trip or just need a quiet booth and a hot plate of biscuits and gravy, Leroy's is a piece of Anchorage history that’s still going strong.

Open 24hrs like a real diner should be with a social scene, TV, newspaper, talkative waitresses and affordable hot plates. Could use a cleaning.
Not Anchorage hipster place. Blue collar diner with cozy booths and nice view of C street traffic while you relax or get ready for work with a decent cup a Joe.

It's like going back in time 20 years for all the right reasons. The food was delicious with generous portions. It was cooked to perfection and was ready fast. The coffee was flowing as quick as I could drink it and tested fresh even after 5:pm. I will definitely be back.

The server is the friendliest lady ever and always remembers you! Since our first visit we've been treated like a regular of 30years. The food is affordable and big portions.
Does have limited parking and big rigs will have a very hard time.
The bathrooms are disgusting (like water damage and urine soaked gross) so we just don't use them.
