Boris Lelchuk, MD: The Compassionate Voice of Wheeling Pediatrics

Located at 201 E Strong St, Suite 6, in Wheeling, Illinois, the practice of Dr. Boris Lelchuk (Children Health Care, Ltd.) is a cornerstone of pediatric care for the local community and the surrounding North Shore suburbs. With over 40 years of medical experience, Dr. Lelchuk is more than just a pediatrician; he is a trusted advisor to generations of families, known for combining "Old World" clinical wisdom with modern pediatric standards.

At Suite 6, the focus is on the "whole child," blending rigorous medical diagnostics with a supportive, fatherly approach to family wellness.

The "Lelchuk" Approach to Care

What makes this Wheeling practice a distinct choice for parents in the Northwest suburbs?

A Global Pedigree: Dr. Lelchuk’s journey began at the prestigious Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical Academy (Leningradskij Pediatricheskij) in Russia, followed by a rigorous residency at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. This background gives him a unique, comprehensive perspective on childhood development and illness.

The "Wise Advisor" Philosophy: Long-time patients often note that a visit to Dr. Lelchuk isn't just about a physical check-up. He is known for offering "wise advice about life," guiding parents through the emotional and developmental hurdles of raising children, from the newborn stage through adolescence.

Multi-Generational Trust: It is common to find parents in his waiting room who were once his patients themselves. This continuity of care creates a "medical home" feeling that is increasingly rare in today's large, corporate healthcare systems.

Bilingual & Culturally Attuned: Fluent in both English and Russian, Dr. Lelchuk serves as a vital bridge for the region’s diverse community, ensuring that complex medical instructions are never lost in translation.

Conservative Intervention: Parents frequently praise his "thoughtful" approach to medication, noting that he prefers to avoid unnecessary prescriptions when lifestyle adjustments or natural healing can suffice, prioritizing the long-term resilience of the child’s immune system.

The Atmosphere at E Strong St

The office has the feel of a classic neighborhood practice—intimate, focused, and deeply personal. While the practice is an independent provider, Dr. Lelchuk maintains strong affiliations with NorthShore University HealthSystem and Advocate Lutheran General, ensuring his patients have seamless access to the region’s top specialists when needed.

Parent Tip: Because Dr. Lelchuk takes the time to sit and talk with every family, the office can sometimes run behind. Regulars suggest arriving with a book or a favorite toy, knowing that the "extra minutes" in the waiting room are a trade-off for a doctor who will never rush your child’s examination.

Amazing doctor with lots of years of experience. He was my doctor, my husbands doctor and now we take our kids to him. He is very attentive, knowledgeable, and always on the money with his diagnosis. I highly recommend this practice all the doctors there i been seen by and all of them are amazing.

I am extremely disappointed with the front desk staff at this office. This morning at 8 AM, I called because my child had a fever of 104°F for two days. We had already been to the Emergency Room, and we urgently needed to see a pediatrician.

The receptionist who answered the phone was incredibly rude. I asked if I could schedule an appointment with Dr. Boris Lilchuk, and she said he wasn’t available today. I then asked if we could see any other doctor, as my child had a dangerously high fever and hadn’t eaten. She coldly responded that all doctors were fully booked and that the only available option was a Nurse Practitioner at 12:45 PM—more than four hours later!

I explained again how serious the situation was and asked if they could fit us in for just five minutes with any doctor, but she refused and said there was nothing she could do. When I asked, “So what do you suggest I do? Should I go back to the Emergency Room?” she dismissively said, “Do whatever you want.” I was shocked by her lack of empathy and professionalism.

To make matters worse, when I asked for her name, she sarcastically replied, “Princess.” This level of disrespect is completely unacceptable, especially in a pediatric office where parents are already stressed and worried about their sick children.

No matter how much we love the doctor, this kind of front-desk behavior is unacceptable. A pediatric clinic should prioritize sick children, especially in urgent cases like this. If they can’t accommodate a child with a dangerously high fever for even a quick check-up, then what’s the point of being registered with this practice?

I strongly urge the management to address this issue. A front desk with such a lack of compassion and professionalism can drive patients away, no matter how great the doctors are.

I had a disappointing experience with the front desk staff. They came across as impolite and unprofessional, which made for an unpleasant interaction. I hope management can address this and improve customer service.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to my daughter Snezhi’s , dr Lelchuk. Every time we’ve needed medical help, he has always been there for us. Not once have we been left without a prompt examination or the attention our child needed.

He is the doctor trusted by some of the most influential and successful families, yet he treats every patient with the same care and dedication. His diagnoses are precise, his approach is reassuring, and his professionalism is unmatched.

We are truly grateful to have such an exceptional doctor caring for our little girl.
