WNDR Museum

If you’re hanging out in the West Loop and looking for something that isn’t just another bar or restaurant, you’ve got to hit up the WNDR Museum at 1130 W Monroe St. It’s basically the opposite of those quiet, "don't touch anything" museums we all went to on school trips. From the second you walk into this converted warehouse, the energy is just different. It’s an immersive, high-tech playground that blends art and science in a way that actually makes sense, and honestly, it’s one of the most Instagram-mable spots in all of Chicago.

The absolute crown jewel here—and the reason people line up—is the Yayoi Kusama Infinity Mirror Room. If you haven’t seen it on your feed yet, it’s this mind-bending room filled with mirrors and glowing dots that makes you feel like you’re floating in deep space. But the cool thing about WNDR is that the exhibits are always shifting. They have these localized "chapters," so one month you might be walking across a light-up floor that reacts to every step you take, and the next you’re inside a digital storm. It’s the kind of place where the art actually needs you to make it work.

One of the best perks for locals is how chill the vibe is compared to the massive museums downtown. Since it’s a timed-entry spot, they don't oversell the tickets, so you actually have space to breathe and take your photos without a stranger’s head in the shot. It’s a huge win for a unique date night or a fun afternoon with friends before heading over to Randolph Street for dinner. They even have a little lounge and shop with some of the weirdest, coolest stuff you’ll find in the city.

What sets WNDR apart is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s loud, it’s bright, and it’s genuinely fun whether you’re an "art person" or not. You don’t need a degree to understand what’s going on—you just need to show up with an open mind and a fully charged phone. It’s a true West Loop staple that proves Chicago’s art scene is way more than just the classics at the Art Institute.

This is an unusual and very fun destination. It is suitable for children and adolescents, teenagers will find it very social media worthy, though my husband and I (over 60) also enjoyed the experience.

I surprised Eric with a WNDR adventure for his 60th birthday. He felt that it was therapeutic and inspiring. Eric is a stroke survivor and I am a cancer survivor. The experience gave us hope and healing. We can’t wait to attend again. We were rushing to dinner and was going to return that day because we were so elated. However, his guest was late and we couldn’t get back by 8pm.

This was a cute little activity to do I paid for the anytime entry band it gives you 10% off photos and purchases two Photo Booth tokens and a free drink alcoholic or non alcoholic to start your experience!! That’s super cool. How ever this is a very short exhibit I paid $221 for three tickets it was nice but not $200 dollars nice it took us about 15/20 mins to finish the entire exhibit one of the photo opportunities were down and it was one we really wanted to pay to get blown up. Only one of the pens for the Glow wall worked everyone was extremely welcoming and nice , it was something to experience just Suuuppper short and a little over priced .

I loved pretty much every area of the tour! It was so cool to be immersed in the exhibit. We were lucky we were the first ones there and not a lot of people so we could experience each area to ourselves. Go at opening if you can!.

A fun variety of interactive exhibits from light, to music, to taste. Some exhibits are completely different from what we have encountered at other places so far. Takes about just under an hour to explore everything.

WNDR curates a wonderful interactive experience! We enjoyed the fun exhibits and the staff are super friendly. We didn't like arriving in-person and the expectation to buy tickets only online and not at the front desk. Personally, I didn't like the retina eye exhibit, it felt like a creepy data collection gimmick.

My 10 year old son and I went to experience WNDR and we had a great time! The entire museum is very interactive, which kept my son very engaged throughout the visit.
Great place to spend time with kids. He only remembered that he had a cellphone when using it to take selfies. Otherwise, it remained in his pocket the entire time we were there. This is a win for any parent, who knows.
I highly recommend this place.

We spent the day in Chicago with the family and visited this museum. It was really cool! There were multiple rooms with different unique aspects, most being rooms you could interact with which made it more fun for the family! We spent a little over an hour here. Overall, we had a WNDRful experience!

WNDR -full experience! Plan parking ahead of time!
Bring an extra $20-30 each for pictures and snacks. You'll want their exhibit pics.
Interactive art in almost all of the exhibits.
Kids 7+ will have a good time in most of it. Younger might get bored or want to touch parts they shouldn't.
Everything is an exhibit including both bathrooms we found!
