If you’re driving through the heart of Tolland County, you’ll find a massive retail landmark at the T.J. Maxx & HomeGoods combo store in Vernon. Located at 35 Talcottville Road, this dual-concept "superstore" is a cornerstone of the local shopping scene, perfectly positioned along the busy Route 83 corridor. In 2026, it remains a favorite destination for Connecticut residents who want to skip the high-pressure environment of the larger malls and instead enjoy a relaxed, high-reward "treasure hunt." It serves as a central hub for everyone from University of Connecticut students looking for dorm essentials to families in the historic neighborhoods of Rockville and South Windsor.

The experience of this specific location is defined by its seamless, open-concept layout, which allows you to drift from a rack of designer autumn sweaters into a world of global home decor without ever leaving the building. In 2026, the T.J. Maxx side continues to be a magnet for fashion-conscious locals, offering an ever-changing selection of name-brand apparel, high-end beauty products, and designer handbags at a fraction of boutique prices. On the HomeGoods side, the aisles are a rotating gallery of finds, from sculptural floor lamps and hand-carved teak furniture to artisan-made glassware. It is a tactile, high-energy environment where the "thrill of the find" is very real—the inventory moves so quickly that a unique piece of abstract art you see on a Tuesday morning is often long gone by the time the weekend rush hits.

What truly makes the Vernon location a community staple is its role as a "lifestyle hub" for the surrounding area. On any given afternoon, you’ll see local residents picking out gourmet specialty foods from the curated pantry aisle or grabbing a set of high-end Italian linens to refresh a guest bedroom. In 2026, the store has expanded its "Gourmet Marketplace," featuring imported olive oils, artisanal sweets, and hard-to-find treats that turn a simple decor run into a global culinary adventure. It serves as a creative engine for the city, proving that a home or a wardrobe can look high-end and sophisticated on a smart, suburban budget.

Visiting this location is a seamless part of a productive day in Vernon. Whether you’re popping in after a workout at a nearby fitness center or grabbing a few seasonal decor items before heading to a meal at the iconic Vernon Diner or Reins Deli nearby, the service is characterized by a blend of New England efficiency and warm, community-focused friendliness. With professional delivery services standing by to help you get those oversized furniture finds home and plenty of convenient parking right in the heart of the shopping center, it’s never been easier to elevate your lifestyle. It is a world-class retail space that reminds you why the best shopping trips are the ones that turn an ordinary errand into an unexpected discovery.

Some interesting reviews about this place

Bought ceramic posters made in Mexico and Spain. Prices were way cheaper than anywhere else. Opinions were limited. Had to travel to multiple home goods locations to get full set. It is Worth the effort

This is hands down probably my favorite tjmaxx location. What makes it 100x better is the fact that it's a homegoods too! I haven't been here in a while and needed something for my 3 year old niece's birthday, which i found within 5 minutes of me entering the store.. Everything is displayed beautifully from the clothes being nicely visualized to the variety of children's books and toys. Found a super cute birthday card for her as well on the homegoods side. Staff was great. Highly recommend. 10/10

I’m writing as a longtime customer who loves shopping at your stores, but I feel it’s important to bring up a growing issue that’s seriously affecting the shopping experience, both for customers and, I imagine, your employees.
Lately, the push for credit card sign ups has become excessive. On three separate visits, I’ve been asked repeatedly, even harassed (they don't take NO for an answer), to open a store card. The pressure is so intense that it’s clearly distracting staff from doing their jobs properly.
On one visit, the cashier was so focused on selling the card that she forgot to wrap my glass and breakable items. By the time I got home, one was shattered. On another, I informed the cashier I had one just wasn't using it and she kept asking "why?" then questioned "when's the last time you used it?" I had to firmly tell the cashier to stop asking and just finish the transaction. And most recently, I was simply doing a return, not even making a purchase and still got questioned about the card multiple times.
It’s uncomfortable and unnecessary. I can tell your employees are under extreme pressure to meet some kind of quota, and that’s not fair to them or to us as customers. It’s creating a tense, unpleasant atmosphere at the checkout that completely overshadows what should be an enjoyable shopping trip.
I truly hope corporate will reconsider how aggressively these credit card sign ups are being pushed. Let your staff focus on providing the great service they’re clearly capable of, instead of being forced into sales tactics that alienate the very people who keep your stores running, your customers.

I still give three stars because this location has an amazing selection of merchandise! It would be five stars if they could calm the credit card pressure down.

I very seldom go here. Maybe once a year. Today it was nice, not crowded. I found things that would help organize the house better for a great price. Will go back a bit more often.

I always find a nice bag and accessories for myself at this store. It is crowded in weekend but worth it.
