If you’re cruising through Nora or just finishing up some errands near the Northside, the Whole Foods Market at 1300 E 86th St is a neighborhood staple that’s way more than just a grocery store. It’s tucked right into the heart of the Nora community, and unlike some of the more hectic spots downtown, this location has a bit more of a relaxed, suburban vibe. Whether you’re a local regular or just stopping in for a specific ingredient you can’t find at Kroger, it’s the kind of place where you can actually enjoy the stroll through the aisles.

The real standout here is the prepared foods section. They have a massive hot bar and salad bar that are absolute lifesavers when you don’t feel like cooking dinner. One of the best pro-tips for this location is to hit the pizza station—the slices are huge, surprisingly affordable, and consistently good. If you’re looking for a quick lunch, their made-to-order sandwiches are a local favorite. Plus, for those of us trying to stay healthy, their produce section is always top-tier, with plenty of local Indiana-grown fruits and veggies when they’re in season.

What makes the 86th Street store really convenient is the extra perks. It’s an Amazon Hub, so you can drop off your returns without needing a box or a label, which is a huge time-saver. The store is also famous for its massive cheese and wine selection—it's the perfect spot to build a fancy charcuterie board if you’re heading to a friend's house in Meridian Hills or Carmel. The staff is famously friendly, and even when it gets busy on the weekends, the lines move fast and the energy stays pretty positive.

I unfortunately don’t care how friendly the staff is. This location constantly has empty shelves and little to no inventory depending on the section any given day of the week. It’s tiny compared to most Whole Foods. It’s an old location that took up a small Wild Oats market years ago. They’ve renovated a few times since, but never expanded it properly. The location isn’t big enough to serve the demand and items are just constantly out of stock. If I visit any other Whole Foods, they’re eons away from this one in terms of inventory/product availability.

If you’re looking for a grocery store that focuses on healthy foods, look no further than Whole Foods. Store is always neat, clean and organized and the workers are always happy to help and friendly. I shop at Whole Foods whenever I travel if one is available and the experience is always the same.

Great store! Love the idea of being able to go to an actual grocery store without it being the cookie cutter type mega Store.

I’ve been to this location a few times because my baby wears the coterie diapers. The cashiers are so rude. They don’t acknowledge you when you walk up and say hello and they’re very unkept. I’ve had male cashiers and they’ve had chipped nail polish, long dirty nails, greasy hair, & their clothes are not work appropriate. This last time, the gentleman was talking to a coworker and neither acknowledged me when I said hello. He didn’t even tell me my total just kept talking. I’m going to start ordering diapers from the manufacturer so I don’t have to go here anymore.

Buyer beware, check your labels. Whole Foods is supplying more and more bioengineered (gmo) foods (1 star). At the least, the 'healthy' Cheerios, Urban brand pizza, nearly half the bakery goods. If this doesn't bother you, then just ignore me. This is for those who do care, yet were unaware.

Specific to the store: They still carry good stuff too. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The store is clean. (5 stars)

3 star average.

Always can count on this store for fresh, organic fruits. Love the figs! There are great options in grass fed beef, pork, etc.

I love Whole Foods. This is your typical WFM, but as someone who was traveling they do have some brands that I don't have back home. Place was clean and organize. Quick check out. High quality products.

Disappointed they were out of a lot of produce. Especially Blueberries!! I drive 75 miles because this is the closest Whole Foods. They really need more stores and in stock produce!! Update came in today and they are out of a lot of things. Every time I come here they are out of products. One would think since they are owned my Amazon the store would have there products stocked. Too bad you can't just order fresh food on Amazon and have it shipped. Because no one in this store was stocking products at 10 today. Go to Fresh Thyme and save yourself the disappointment.

I love the produce here and the meat from the butcher. I've ordered online a few times and that's been awesome. Employees are always very helpful. The only issue I have ever had was when I was shopping in the frozen foods I was reading a label and one of the ladies doing personal shopping was literally 3 inch's from me. No personal space.
