The Meama Experience Our Mission and Story

Culinary Craftsmanship

We focus on a "less is more" approach to craft a superior dining experience:

Refined Classics: Our khachapuri and khinkali aren't just "traditional"—they are elevated. We focus on the texture of the dough, the quality of the cheese, and the balance of the fillings to ensure each bite is perfection.

Flavor-Forward Focus: By focusing on the purity of our ingredients, we allow the authentic Georgian spice profiles to shine without being masked by heavy preparations.

Simplicity as Luxury: We believe true luxury is found in a dish executed perfectly. Our menu is concise and curated, ensuring that everything that leaves our kitchen meets our rigorous standards of quality.

Modern East Village Vibe: Our space is designed for the modern diner—cool, stylish, and focused. It is the perfect place for an early evening dinner, a weekend lunch, or a refined night out.

Had one of my favorite solo dining experiences in NYC at Meama tonight. If you’re looking for exceptional Georgian food, an incredible amber wine selection, and one of the more thoughtfully curated wine lists in the city, this place is truly special.

The wine program leans heavily Georgian with a few top-tier French selections woven in, which made the entire experience feel both transportive and deeply intentional. I especially loved exploring the amber wines alongside the food.

For dinner, I ordered the beet bites and the khinkali trio, and both were outstanding. The beet bites were flavorful, balanced, and beautifully textured, while the khinkali were comforting, rich, and perfect with the wine pairing.

The atmosphere also deserves a mention. Warm lighting, relaxed energy, and the kind of space that works equally well for a date night, dinner with friends, or lingering solo at the bar with a glass of wine.

This is absolutely a restaurant I’ll keep coming back to.

Cannot recommend Meama enough! The staff was incredibly accommodating for a 17 person birthday reservation, the food was delicious, and their Georgian Saperavi wine suggestions went so well with our meal. Make sure you get their signature Khachapuri, lamb shank, and cheesecake!

We found this place through a Puls’d offer and will definitely be returning. The star of the delicious meal was the basque cheesecake (pair with strawberry Rossini) which was so exquisite we didn’t have time to take a picture of its Creme brûlée glory. Prosciutto/Peach Salad was a great starter and we also enjoyed the Meama bread and cheese with pear (pair with amber wine) and the chicken mtsvadi.

We stumbled upon Meama after seeing a show at the New York Theater Workshop. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting. The food and hospitality are quite nice. Our server was also one of the owners and was quite friendly.
If you're looking to try something new in the East Village, Meama is definitely worth checking out. Meama gained 3 new fans of Georgian cuisine.

celebrated my husband’s birthday here with 16 other people and the owner was super welcome and accommodating!! i really appreciated that she was so flexible with a party of our size, especially given how hard it is to find a nice meal for 17 people in manhattan. she helped me pre-select a few appetizers and sides that were ready as soon as we sat down and everything was delicious!! we especially loved all the khachapuri, the beef tenderloin, the mtsvadi bites, and the cheesecake. we can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful find! The baked breads with cheese are divine and the house wine is tasty.
We learned a bit more about Georgia, the language and the history.
Thank you for a wonderful meal and evening!

Meama was an absolute standout and easily one of the best dinners we’ve had in NYC in a long time. From the moment we walked in, everything felt warm, inviting, and special.
We started with Georgian beer, which was a fun and unique way to kick off the meal, and every dish after that just kept getting better. We ordered two khachapuri and both were incredible. One was the classic cheese bread boat-warm, rich, perfectly baked comfort food. The standout though was their specialty khachapuri with pears and a honey drizzle, which was unexpectedly amazing. The sweet and savory combination was so unique and balanced… something we’re still talking about.
The fish soup was flavorful and comforting, the beet salad was fresh and beautifully prepared, and every entrée was excellent. The beef tenderloin was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender, the lamb shank was rich, flavorful, and falling off the bone, and the branzino was fresh, light, and beautifully prepared.
The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere struck that perfect balance of elevated yet welcoming. Meama delivered on every level-food, service, and overall experience. Already looking forward to going back.

Absolutely fantastic place. Ambience, warmth of the service and incredibly good variety of Georgian food. Being a connoisseur of Georgian cousin I am bias so take my review seriously. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to discover few impressive contemporary inventions by the chef. Thee are also some worthy non-Georgian items in the menu, such as delicious Basque style Cheesecake or Cheesecake a la Basque. Some scholars claim ancient relations between Spanish Iberians (Basques) and Iberians of Caucasus (Georgians) so I guess it's not a strictly "foreign" addition to Meama's menu. :)
Enjoy folks. Go visit and I promise you will be going back to that wonderful cousy place of culinary delights.
