The Old Tbilisi Garden Experience
Our Mission and Story

Since 2014, our mission has been simple: to introduce New Yorkers to the genuine warmth, complexity, and soul of Georgia. We wanted to create a space that felt less like a commercial restaurant and more like a home—a garden where time slows down. Over the last decade, we have remained committed to the traditional preparation methods that define Georgian culture, ensuring that every guest experiences the true heritage of Tbilisi.

Culinary Craftsmanship

Our menu is a curated journey through Georgia’s most beloved flavors:

Signature Khachapuri: Our cheese-filled bread is baked to artisanal perfection, serving as the comforting centerpiece of every table.

Hand-Folded Khinkali: These traditional soup dumplings are a masterclass in dough-craft, filled with seasoned meats and aromatic broths.

The Grill & The Stew: From our tender kebab platters to slow-simmered meat stews, our dishes highlight the bold spice profiles and fresh ingredients of our homeland.

Rare Wine & Spirits: We take immense pride in our collection. We offer unique Georgian Orange Qvevri wines—fermented in traditional clay vessels—as well as authentic Chacha (grape brandy) and cognac. Don't forget to pair your meal with our traditional sparkling Georgian lemonades.

The Insider’s Edge

Old Tbilisi Garden is frequently cited as the quintessential "tastemaker" for Georgian food in Manhattan. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet cozy, making it a favorite for those who appreciate history as much as they appreciate fine dining. It is the perfect venue for an intimate dinner, a celebratory evening, or a quiet night spent enjoying a glass of rare Georgian wine in a space that feels entirely separate from the city outside.

We recently dined at old Tbilisi the food was excellent, particularly the khinkali. The lamb had the perfect amount of spice, and the beef and pork were prepared very well; both had a wonderful amount of juice. We also loved the mushrooms with the perfectly melted cheese on top. The chicken was savory and well-spiced, and while it was more soupy than expected, the delicious crusty bread complemented it perfectly.
The atmosphere was also lovely. While the front bar is nice, the garden area is a fantastic space to dine. We also appreciated the selection of Georgian wines, which were a great pairing for the meal. Do note the bar is small this is an excellent spot for a date or small group.
Just over all a wonderful experience.

We had lunch there around noon on Sunday. The place was kind of empty but the garden in the back filled up quickly. The food was excellent, we had beef & pork khinkali with arugula salad. The salad was definitely lemony but still was great. The dumplings are authentic and very tasty. The restaurant has great selection of wines we were impressed by both kinds we tried. Overall highly recommend for a visit and we are definitely going to come back.

we were in New York City looking to try something new and online reviews came up with Old Tbilisi Garden so we decided to check it out.

We made a reservation for 8p and arrived a couple of minutes early but the restaurant was relatively empty so it was quick to get a table.

We ordered the eggplant appetizer, the Georgian salad, the mushroom dumplings, and the cheese and spinach baked good. The eggplant and salad both came outburst and both were good in terms of size and flavor. The salad had a good dressing which complimented it and did not overpower it. The eggplant was really good but would’ve been better with bread, so we requested bread and it was an additional charge and some pieces were very chewy and a bit hard to chew.

The baked good came out afterwards and it was a combo between a pizza and phyllo dough. The portion size was really good and the flavor was decent albeit a bit bland.

The mushroom dumplings were also good size and came with 4 pieces with sour cream on the side. The portion size was good and the flavor of the dough was good, the inside was also decent but lacked some flavor.

Overall good flavor and portion size of food. A bit bland but overall good

A bit disappointed with food. Have been here two times already cause it was recommended by a friend and wanted to like it but it was just ok and quite expensive for what you get. The only thing I really enjoyed was wine. Main portions are small and not well balanced, we had to order more sides to get full. Bread was probably microwaved, the chewiest thing I had in a while.

I really enjoyed my meal and wine. I really appreciate that they only serve Georgian wine. Also their menu is great, they have more options than usual dishes that you see in a Georgian restaurant

Tables are a lot tight and you feel like sitting on the same table with folks next to you. Lots of unnecessary chats!
Good is good and authentic. But menu is super short! Georgian kitchen has a lot to offer!
Place is clean and nice. I asked for extra bread and the waitress didn’t like it
