Orlando, 422 S Alafaya Trail #26, Orlando, FL 32828

Welcome to the "Advanced Shield of the Sunshine State." Located at 422 S Alafaya Trail #26, in the heart of East Orlando’s Waterford Lakes community, the Orlando Dermatology Center is the satellite hub for one of Central Florida’s most academically rigorous skin care practices.

Led by Dr. Vitaly Blatnoy, MD, a board-certified dermatologist and founder, this office is where international medical expertise meets the speed and innovation of modern American dermatology.

The Vibe: High-Tech Globalism

The atmosphere at the Alafaya Trail office is defined by multilingual precision. Dr. Blatnoy, who graduated at the top of his class from the National Medical University in Ukraine and trained at the University of Cincinnati, brings a global perspective to his work. The office is clean, efficient, and welcoming—frequently praised by patients for having "no-wait" rooms and a staff that treats you like an individual rather than a chart number. It’s a space where English, Russian, and Hebrew are spoken fluently, creating a uniquely inclusive medical haven in East Orlando.

The Specialist: The Mohs Master

Dr. Blatnoy is not just a general practitioner; he is a specialist in Mohs Micrographic Surgery—the gold standard for skin cancer removal.

The "One-Percent" Standard: Having graduated in the top 1% of his medical class, Dr. Blatnoy applies a "high-resolution" lens to every diagnosis.

The Surgical Artist: He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mohs Surgery, meaning he specializes in removing cancerous tissue with microscopic precision while leaving the maximum amount of healthy, beautiful skin intact.

Award-Winning Care: A four-time recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award, he is known for a "calm and thorough" bedside manner that de-escalates the stress of a cancer diagnosis.

The Craft: Innovation Beyond the Scalpel

What makes the Orlando Dermatology Center a "must-visit" at Waterford Lakes? It is their investment in non-invasive alternatives:

SRT (Superficial Radiation Therapy): This office is a leader in using low-energy radiation to treat non-melanoma skin cancers. It’s the perfect "painless" solution for patients who want to avoid surgery, especially for lesions on the face, head, or neck.

The "Clearoll" Strategy: Dr. Blatnoy has used his decades of chemistry and clinical experience to help formulate Clearoll, a skincare line designed to fuse scientific innovation with high-purity ingredients.

The Full Aesthetic Suite: From IPL laser rejuvenation and laser tattoo removal to Botox and fillers, the center uses the same surgical precision for its cosmetic patients as it does for its medical ones.

Why It’s Unique to Alafaya Trail

What sets this location apart in the East Orlando landscape?

The "Neighborhood Giant": While it has the resources of a large regional center (including an in-house lab for faster results), the Alafaya office maintains a "boutique" feel. It’s a place where the staff remembers your name and your history.

The "Statutory" Stability: Affiliated with major systems like AdventHealth and Orlando Health, the center offers the security of a large hospital network with the agility of a private practice.

The "Zero-Wait" Commitment: In a city where specialist wait times can be weeks, this branch is known for its "on-time" scheduling and the ability to handle urgent skin concerns quickly.

The Patient Experience

The Clinical Verdict: "Where clarity meets comfort." Patients describe Dr. Blatnoy as "direct, honest, and incredibly skilled." If you are looking for a doctor who won't just "freeze a spot" but will investigate your skin’s health with the mind of a researcher and the hand of a surgeon, the Alafaya Trail office is your destination.

I made an appointment at this office based on all of the wonderful reviews and the length y career of the physician. I have been concerned about heavy hair shedding over the last year and a half and wanted to understand what is causing this. I was prepared to give a history as I have suffered with this issue in the past since I was an older teenager, and I wanted to discuss my current situation more in depth. The doctor came in, shook my hand, and basically talked over me the whole time. Never once did he step over to look at my hair or my scalp. I expected him to do a pull test at the very least, nothing. He probably stayed about 5 ft away from me the entire time and when I pointed out a lot of new hair growth that I was seeing when I blow dry my hair he just looked and said yeah there's some but not as much as I want to see. How would he even know? He didn't even look through my hair? I was extremely disappointed. He promptly prescribed me oral minoxidil and sent me on my way with an order for blood work and a 5-month follow-up visit in October. He also told me that there was no such thing as chronic telogen effluvium which I know is not true. He also pointed out that all hair loss is alopecia. When I got home, I googled about oral minoxidil and was slightly horrified to discover the possible side effects which can include fluid around the heart including heart failure which is very rare, but obviously very serious. The most common side effect is something called dreadshed which means your hair will start shedding tremendously a few weeks into the treatment. Apparently this is normal and means the medication is working but he never mentioned this to me. You would think this is something people want to know so they don't freak out when their symptoms get worse instead of better. I decided not to take this medication and to follow up with a second opinion. Do yourself a favor and avoid this office if you are looking for any kind of in-depth understanding for heavy shedding.

I would spend more time writing a longer review, but that would be longer than he spent considering my dermatological issue.
