Phoenix, 7311 E Thomas Rd Suite 100, Scottsdale, AZ 85251

If you’re a pet owner in the Scottsdale or Tempe area, The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic at 7311 E Thomas Rd Suite 100 is basically the "Old Reliable" of the neighborhood. Established over 60 years ago, it was the very first vet center in Scottsdale, and it has grown into a massive, 24-hour hub for the 85251 community. Whether you’re coming in for a scheduled check-up or rushing in with a midnight emergency, the staff here is known for treating your pets like they were their own, which is exactly what you want when your "fur baby" is feeling under the weather.

What really distinguishes this clinic is its versatility; it’s a full-service animal hospital and a 24/7 emergency center all rolled into one. While most offices only see dogs and cats, the team here is actually trained to handle exotic pets too—everything from parrots and rabbits to ferrets and reptiles. They offer a wide range of unique treatments you won't find everywhere, like acupuncture, cold laser therapy, and even animal chiropractic care. For those who prefer a more natural approach, they have great holistic and herbal medicine options to complement traditional treatments.

One of the biggest perks for local residents is their focus on making care affordable. They offer Wellness Plans that bundle exams, vaccines, and bloodwork into a monthly payment, and they have a reputation for being transparent about costs before starting any procedure. They even provide specialized services like in-home humane euthanasia, which is a huge comfort for families who want their pets to pass peacefully in their own living room. It’s this kind of "above and beyond" compassion that has kept them ranked as a top-rated vet in Arizona for years.

Logistics-wise, the clinic is easy to find on Thomas Road, just a few minutes away from Old Town and Scottsdale Stadium. There is plenty of parking right in front of the suite, so you don't have to carry a heavy crate too far. Since they are a 24-hour facility, the lobby can be buzzing at any hour, but the staff is excellent at triaging emergencies so the most critical cases are always seen immediately. It’s a clean, bustling, and high-tech clinic that manages to keep that warm, "small-town" feel even as it provides world-class medical care.

I really like this vet. They are super great at trimming my boys nails and always give him lots of treats. They take walk-ins and since it’s an emergency clinic as well, they are open all hours. The people that work here are always very nice and accommodate my dog with lots of anxiety.

March 21, 2026 10 Star Review
I want to add to this review because I couldn’t figure out how to leave a new one…. Cookie needed some vaccines and I was helped by Ms Carissa who was so empathetic and kind…. Ms Hailey offered to trim her nails and was also so kind. Dr Nick came in and spoke with me and just had the best bedside manner… I am grateful for this place

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE

Late last night, my 7-year-old teacup Chihuahua suddenly started exhibiting severe and unusual symptoms: repeated vomiting, loss of coordination, slow breathing, glassy eyes, and staring. This was completely out of the ordinary and clearly an emergency. I specifically told them multiple times that I was concerned this could be hypoglycemia given his size and symptoms.

I called ahead and rushed to SVC, arriving within 15 minutes. When I walked in, frantic, the front desk had no idea who I was or that I had called ahead about an emergency. That immediately set the tone.

The assistant and doctor who saw us were polite, but completely dismissive and made assumptions from the start. They immediately blamed marijuana exposure simply because I mentioned we smoke—despite me clearly explaining there were no edibles or anything accessible my dog could have gotten into. Every time I tried to explain my concerns, including repeatedly bringing up the possibility of hypoglycemia, I was shut down and ignored.

We arrived around 7:30 PM. My dog was taken back at 7:45 PM for a simple test, and then we were left with virtually no communication for over an hour. I had to go outside and flag down random staff just to get an update—and even then, no one followed up.

(after reading other reviews on here I now realize that 'staff member' was Angel B/OWNER/hospital administrator... Disgusting)

I had to find another staff member myself to get my dog brought back to me.

He wasn’t returned until around 9:20 PM, and then we waited even longer just to speak with the doctor. We were told the delay was due to an emergency euthanasia. I understand emergencies happen, but the complete lack of communication and disregard for my dog—who was ALSO there for an emergency—was unacceptable.

His drug test, that took an hour and a half (it takes 5 min), showed up negative for marijuana and every other drug.

My dog was misdiagnosed, dismissed, and not properly cared for, despite me clearly stating my concerns about hypoglycemia multiple times. We are extremely lucky he recovered on his own, because the level of care we received did not reflect an emergency veterinary clinic.

I also strongly believe I was judged and treated differently because of the mention of marijuana. That bias could have had serious consequences for my pet.

His symptoms reappeared even worse once we got home. I gave him some honey on his gums which temporarily helped enough for him to get some food down. After that he finally was able to sleep and he is doing alot better today.

This experience was disorganized, dismissive, and honestly inhumane. If you care about your pet, take them somewhere that will actually listen and treat them with urgency and respect.

If you know me, you know I love my dog Barkley more than almost anything else on this planet. This past Sunday night, Barkley was bloated and acting strange. We had a virtual urgent care call and they were concerned enough that we brought him into The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic to check in on him. After an ultrasound, they found that he had a mass on his spleen and was internally bleeding, and had to go into immediate overnight emergency surgery.

The surgery was successful, and after a 36 hour hospital stay, Barkley is back home and on the mend. While this was such a scary experience and few days, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic and their team. They are open 24/7/365, and provided around the clock care. Because of the length of his stay, we worked with and spoke to multiple of their veterinarians and assistants (thank you to Dr. Ferguson, Dr. Fleming, Dr. Goldberg, and Dr. Blackmon), and everyone was so kind, attentive, and caring through every step of the process, gave us calls throughout the night with updates and over the past few days to check in on Barkley’s progress, and were so compassionate in all of the care they provided. Barkley was in such great hands.

Thank you to the The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic team!

Staff is great. I would like more clarification and details on tests provided for their plans. I didn't know about an additional charge when going in for whatever the plan was supposed to cover. Usually told up front about the additional cost. Seems as if the plans mostly cover office visits and not much else. Coverage is confusing if you want any detailed info done(labs, etc) even though there is a discount.

I can't say enough good things about the staff and the care they provide. I have gone here for emergency visits and most recently for my 13 y/o chihuahua's dental cleaning. He's a high risk case and they knew I was very anxious to put him under anesthesia due to his health. Dr. Palmer, Carissa and Melissa were all very communicative and reassuring that he was in great hands and even called to verify a few things while he was under and gave me more reassurance that he was doing well. After I brought Sonny home, I later called to have them help me understand the paperwork they sent me home with and Melissa spent about 20 minutes answering all of my questions, giving advice and walking me through his dental chart. I am SO grateful for their support and care today.
