If you’re looking for a weekend that feels like a real slice of Florida agriculture and community, you have to spend a morning at the Plant City Farm & Flea Market at 708 W Sam Allen Rd. This isn't one of those polished, touristy markets; it’s one of the largest independent farmers' markets in the Southeast and has a gritty, authentic energy that locals love. Whether you’re a professional chef looking for bulk produce or a family looking for a cheap outing, this place is a total landmark for anyone in the Tampa and Lakeland area.

The real star of the show here is the produce. Since it’s a wholesale hub, the freshness and the prices on fruits and veggies blow any grocery store out of the water. You’ll see trucks rolling in with crates of the famous Plant City strawberries, watermelons, and citrus. If you’re planning a big cookout or just want to stock up for the month, this is your spot—it's common to see people walking out with entire boxes of avocados or peppers for a fraction of what you’d pay at Publix. Just be sure to bring a cart or a wagon; you’re going to need it for the haul.

Beyond the food, the flea market side is a massive, sprawling adventure. You can find everything from brand-new power tools and work boots to vintage collectibles and live plants. It’s a great place to pick up fruit trees for your backyard or find those random household essentials like laundry detergent and tools at a major discount. The vibe is lively and very "Old Florida," with local vendors who have been setting up here for decades. It’s the kind of place where you can get your phone screen fixed and buy a fresh taco in the same ten-minute span.

The atmosphere is super community-focused, and it gets especially busy on Wednesdays and weekends. You’ll find some of the best authentic street food around—think fresh tacos, roasted corn, and cold drinks—that make the walking worth it. It’s mostly outdoors and can get a bit dusty and hot, so wearing comfortable shoes and an old-school hat is a must. It’s a low-stress, high-reward way to shop local, support independent farmers, and experience the real heart of Plant City.

Tons of vendors. Dont go without your wallet . Your absolutely going to find something you want . They have produce vendors, coconut stans all kinds of fun eats &; you'll stumble upon all kind of homemade goodies. We also loved that there was a wide variety of vendors . Dollar booths and some more high end vendors with nice shoes and clothing . Will Definitely be back . If you have nothing to do and just wanna get out of the house this is a very fun experience. You'll meet some really cool great people as well .

Food is tucked in from across the world. Sold at discounted wholesale prices. You must buy the whole box of produce. Some of which will be bad, rotten, or bruised.

There were no directions or signs anywhere clearly indicating where the flea market was located. It was confusing from the moment we arrived.

The setup itself was just one long strip of vendors with items displayed directly on the floor. Everything felt very unorganized and poorly maintained.

Bring cash most vendors dont take card (if you want stuff I would say bring min of $100, if just looking $50, small denominations)

Vendors selling: lots of fruit and food stands, clothes, toys, antique stuff, live plants, hardware tools, knives, blankets, cds and dvds anything you could think of was there!

Parking:
Some park on the side of the main road and just walk in, most drive in, you'll encounter 1 big parking spot which was mostly taken, keep driving the curved road and you'll encounter another parking spot (upper right) several one way sections (should be able to find parking there) if not there is a third small parking section use the second parking spot go all the way up til you are in front of the stands then turn right and go all the way straight, dirt parking in front of a infrastructure place.

Only thing was i didnt find any bathroom facilities so come with an empty bladder. If there was one it was well hidden.

Enjoy the market!

Great prices on produce can't beat them anywhere I've tried not possible. Got two pineapples probably 30 bananas yellow for me and green green for the miss's and eight cayhotes or what ever they are called. for 8$and there is Anthony with his abundance of treasure that is always changing, on one piticular day I was there I seen him sell off a washer, dryer and a toaster oven for a dollar a piece I always find something good never know you just got to dig might get lucky and find something from his personal collection, lots of other booths there as well, those just happen to be my favorite.

Lugar muy pintoresco. Si buscas una feria entretenida, este es el lugar. Hay de todo. Aunque principalmente verás comida, frutas, verduras, ropa y juguetes.

Was there once in 1985. Would never go back. There's a very small market in Cocoa, FL where antiques are sold.

This is a great flea market. When available the vegetables and fruits here are in large quantities. Plenty of flea market oriented tables of stuff of all sorts. Very many Spanish folks and the things they like. That means lots of good eats and drinks. The venue is enormous and you will get your 10,000 steps in if you hit it all. Parking can be tricky, you’ll have to see it yourself. Easily in the top 5 markets in the state, speaking from experience.
