Anchorage, 4100 Lake Otis Pkwy Suite 220, Anchorage, AK 99508

In the rugged heart of Anchorage, Dr. Douglas P. Prevost, MD, at 4100 Lake Otis Pkwy, Suite 220, serves as an elite "architect of mobility." Practicing with the Anchorage Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic, Dr. Prevost is a board-certified, fellowship-trained surgeon whose career has spanned from the hallowed halls of West Point to the front lines of orthopedic innovation in the Last Frontier.

Here is why Dr. Prevost’s practice is a premier destination for joint health in Alaska:

The Vibe: Military Precision Meets Ocular Detail

The office atmosphere is defined by discipline, transparency, and high-tech clarity. Dr. Prevost’s background as a West Point graduate and a former Chief of Total Joint Service for the U.S. Army (at Brooke Army Medical Center) is evident in his clinical philosophy: he operates with a mission-focused strategy where every movement is calculated for the fastest possible recovery.

Why This Practice Is Truly Unique:

The "Muscle-Sparing" Philosophy: Dr. Prevost is a local pioneer in tissue-preserving total joint replacement. Instead of traditional invasive cutting, he utilizes techniques that go under the muscle and tendons, resulting in significantly less post-operative pain and a recovery timeline that feels "accelerated" to most patients.

VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Surgery: He is a master of the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution. This technology allows him to move beyond "generic" joint alignments, instead creating a 3D digital map of your specific anatomy to ensure a knee or hip replacement that feels natural and stable in every direction.

The "Swiss-Trained" Pedigree: In addition to his fellowships in New York, Dr. Prevost completed a prestigious AO Fellowship in Bern, Switzerland. This international training in joint-preserving surgery of the hip gives him a global perspective on how to save a joint before moving to a full replacement.

Specialized Frontiers of Care

Dr. Prevost is a "Top Doctor" veteran who specializes in the high-stakes world of reconstruction:

Anterior Approach Total Hip: He is a go-to specialist for the Anterior Total Hip Replacement, a technique that allows patients to walk almost immediately after surgery because it avoids cutting major muscle groups.

Complex Revision Surgery: He is the "surgeon’s surgeon" for fixing previous joint replacements that have failed or worn out, a highly specialized field requiring immense mechanical and biological expertise.

Elite Sports Medicine: From ACL reconstructions to complex rotator cuff repairs, he treats Anchorage’s "mountain athletes" with the same intensity he once used to treat active-duty soldiers.

Why Alaskans Trust Dr. Prevost:

A Decade of Excellence: He has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for 10 consecutive years, a distinction voted on by his peers in the medical community.

Multilingual Advocacy: Reflecting his global training and service, he is conversant in Spanish, ensuring that Anchorage’s diverse community has a direct, jargon-free connection to their surgical care.

Comprehensive Aftercare: Supported by an elite team—including Physician Assistants like Jennifer Fayette, PA-C—his practice is known for an "all-hands-on-deck" approach to post-op physical therapy and pain management.

The Insider Move: Dr. Prevost is famous for providing extensive "Preparatory Intelligence." If you are a new patient, ask for his pre-surgical education packet. It is incredibly thorough, designed to answer every question you haven't even thought to ask yet, ensuring you walk into the OR with zero anxiety.

TOP important and interesting reviews from patients

I had intermittent hip pain for two years and was misdiagnosed as low back pain at another clinic. It got really bad and I was having a lot of difficulty with simple tasks like walking. I went to AFOC and was referred to Dr. Prevost. He is a caring doctor who listens and cares. Before having surgery, he answered all of my questions and was very thorough in explaining the procedure I was going to have. I felt very comfortable going into surgery, feeling like I was in good hands. The surgery was very successful and I feel much better!

My husband Kevin Saloka had a left hip replacement a week ago and is doing fine. The doctor and his staff are very friendly and professional. Very informative before and after surgery.

I went back to see Dr Prevost to have him replace my other knee. It's been six months now and all the pain is gone. Still working on that range of motion...but two thumbs up. Every knee is different...and this one was a little more trouble. But now I've got a matched set. Thanks, Dr Prevost!

Dr. Prevost was the best. I have had bad experiences in the past with Orthopedic specialties but this was a wonderful experience. His staff were all professional and very nice. The medical assistant was very knowledgeable he was able to answer all my questions, was able to get my images uploaded and was very nice.

Dr. Prevost was very professional, explained things well and listened to a lot of my questions and concerns which the last orthopedic did not do. He let me know my options, and talked me through what a good plan should be.

This team made me comfortable continuing my care with them even coming from Fairbanks. Both were knowledgeable about where I can get the right procedure and imaging done in my hometown which will make this much easier so I don’t have to travel back and forth as much.

I look forward to continuing my care with this team.

He has impeccable skills and bedside manner... His staff is amazing as well ...

Excellent care and very caring. Goes above and beyond to help you even if you have something wrong you weren’t there to be seen for, he will still accommodate you with a smile, even though it probably put him behind some. Appreciate his help.
