If you live on the West Side or near the Littlefield neighborhood, Hometown Supermarket on Wyoming Avenue is a staple for keeping the pantry stocked without breaking the bank. It is a large, full-service grocery store that has a bit of everything, making it a convenient one-stop shop for local residents. While it has that classic, no-frills supermarket feel, it is consistently reliable for everyday essentials and fresh items that you might not find at smaller corner stores.

The real draw here is the meat department and the produce section. Locals often head to this location specifically for the variety of cuts available at the butcher counter, which are usually priced much better than the big national chains. The produce is well-stocked with the basics you need for home cooking, and you can often find great deals on bulk items. It’s the kind of place where you can get your greens, grains, and proteins all in one go without having to wander through a massive, overwhelming warehouse.

What makes this spot a neighborhood favorite is the community atmosphere. The staff is generally familiar with the regulars, and the checkout process is straightforward and efficient. It’s a great alternative to the high-traffic stores in the suburbs, offering a more local experience where you can get in and out quickly. Whether you are prepping for a family Sunday dinner or just need to grab a gallon of milk and some snacks on the way home, it serves the 48204 area perfectly.

Convenience is key at this location, with plenty of parking right in front of the building and wide aisles that make it easy to navigate with a full cart. It represents that dependable local business that understands the needs of the Detroit community, providing quality food at fair prices. For those looking for a "hometown" feel where the focus is on value and service rather than flashy marketing, this supermarket is a solid choice.

Got in quick everyone had a mask on I felt safe they had everything I need staff was very nice to me and parking was wonderful

Could be better. It's the prices of the produce that's ridiculous. Fruit market is down the street so there's no reason to upcharge these items. They cut up the celery and repacked it to sell. They do this with other items too. They sale outdated meat at reduced prices. They finally got staff so that's the good part

Price gouging . Very expressive Market. Their definitely robbing the community. I would not shop there.

Love shopping at Hometown. Friendly employees. Fast service. Clean environment. 30+ years customer. Never disappointed.

They have groceries, that I wouldn't find in a local grocery store. Be careful, you'll spend more than you expect lol. Great environment and store

Bought over $400 in groceries smh and so much of this stuff is expired with mold, no one should have to check expiration on food when it’s their responsibility to make sure stuff is top quality . On top of that the fruit and vegetables be over ripe and nasty. Store is to expensive for the the quality they give out even krogers are cheaper with way better food quantity. Store at this point needs new management/owners or needs to be shut down

Store is somewhat clean, narrow aisles, very very overpriced meats, some deals if you can find them, decent location. Overall unless you are in a quick need of food for tonight's meal or live within a block or two, this local market should be avoided at all cost. They charge almost the same per pound for all beef cuts!!! Not a good place to get discounts!!!

Convenient only because it's local.
Every single item in this place is marked up higher than other grocery stores ( Kroger / Walmart ).
The majority of price labels don't match the product, making it hard to shop with a budget. It's only when you get to the register to check-out when you find out some items cost more than you interpreted from the price label on the shelf.
Lastly, CAREFULLY EXAMINE THE EXPIRATION DATE on every item, I've gotten home before and found many items were either expired, or will expier the next day, and weren't on sale. Imagine the frustration when you find out you over paid for expired food!

Very clean and organized. Very large turkey meat selection which I love. It's a small store but quality product and frequent sale items make it worthwhile.
