Ресторан русской и украинской кухни на Брайтон Бич
If you’re taking a stroll through "Little Odessa" and want a meal that tastes exactly like a Sunday dinner at a Slavic grandmother’s house, you’ve got to duck into Skovorodka at 615 Brighton Beach Ave. The name actually means "frying pan" in Russian, and it perfectly captures the vibe of this place—homestyle, unpretentious, and always serving up something sizzling. It’s located right in the thick of the action under the elevated subway tracks, making it a favorite landing spot for locals who want a real-deal Eastern European feast without the over-the-top prices of the big banquet halls nearby.
The menu is a massive collection of comfort food classics, but people really come here for the Beef Stroganoff and the Ukrainian Borscht. The Stroganoff is famously creamy and served with tender buckwheat, which is the ultimate comfort combo. If you’re in the mood for something grilled, their Chicken and Lamb Shish Kebabs are always a solid bet—juicy, well-seasoned, and served in portions that’ll definitely keep you full until tomorrow. They also do incredible handmade pierogies and "Samsas" that are perfect for sharing if you’re just stopping by for a quick snack.
What makes Skovorodka special is that it’s more than just a quick bite; it’s a whole experience. On many nights, they have live music that brings the room to life, turning a regular dinner into a bit of a celebration. It’s the kind of place where the staff, like the well-known waiter Eric, treats you like a regular even if it’s your first time. Whether you’re sitting inside surrounded by the cozy, slightly kitschy decor or grabbing a beer at one of the sidewalk tables to watch the neighborhood go by, it’s got a personality you just don’t find in Manhattan.
They are open every day of the week, so you can always rely on them for a hearty meal. Their hours are Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and they stay open an extra hour until 11:00 PM on Saturdays. On Sundays, they’re back to their 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM schedule. It’s a great spot for a budget-friendly lunch special or a long, boisterous dinner with friends. If you want a slice of authentic Brighton Beach culture and a meal that sticks to your ribs, this is the place.
