Chung Hing Oriental Market - North Miami Beach (1855 NE 163rd St)

Located in the heart of what many locals consider Miami's unofficial "Chinatown," Chung Hing Oriental Market is a dense, high-inventory hub for Asian culinary enthusiasts. This family-owned market is a neighborhood staple, prized for stocking specialty ingredients that are often impossible to find in mainstream supermarkets.

The Shopping Experience: A High-Density Treasure Trove

Chung Hing is known for maximizing its space; the aisles are narrow and packed from floor to ceiling, creating a "treasure hunt" atmosphere for home cooks and chefs.

Massive Sauce & Spice Selection: The market boasts an incredible variety of condiments. If you're looking for a specific brand of fish sauce, chili oil, or soy sauce, they often carry dozens of options ranging from budget-friendly staples to premium imports.

The Frozen Section: One of the store's strongest features is its expansive freezer wall. It is a go-to destination for specialty dumplings (including Xiao Long Bao), bao buns, fish balls, and thinly sliced meats perfectly prepared for hotpot.

Pantry Essentials: Entire aisles are dedicated to rice, noodles, and dried goods. You’ll find bulk sacks of jasmine rice alongside rare dried mushrooms, seaweed sheets, and various flours for traditional baking.

Exotic Produce: While the produce section is compact, it is reliable for fresh staples like bok choy, Chinese eggplant, ginger, and lemongrass. Depending on the season, you can also find tropical fruits like fresh lychees, dragon fruit, and mangoes.

Why Locals Love It

Expert Service: The staff, particularly a frequent mention in reviews for "Stan," are celebrated for being exceptionally knowledgeable. They are known for making accurate recommendations for specific wrappers or sauces and helping shoppers navigate the dense aisles.

The "One-Two Punch" with Sang’s: The market is located right next to Sang’s Chinese Food and Dim Sum, one of the most popular authentic Chinese restaurants in Miami. Locals often make a day of it: enjoy a Dim Sum lunch and then head next door to stock up on the ingredients to recreate the meal at home.

Competitive Pricing: Despite being an independent market, many shoppers find that bulk items and specialty imports are significantly cheaper here than at larger grocers or online retailers.

Things to Know Before You Go

The "Organized Chaos": Because the store is packed solid, it may feel a bit disorganized or dim compared to modern "megamarts." It’s best to go with a list or be prepared to spend some time exploring the shelves.

Check Dates: As with many smaller independent markets with massive inventories, regulars recommend double-checking expiration dates on niche items.

Parking: There is a shared customer parking lot, though it can get busy during peak lunch and dinner hours due to the popularity of the surrounding restaurants.

Very glad to find this store today. I've been looking for yellow yuzu flavored fish egg roe as a sushi toppin for a few weeks. After calling many stores this was the only store I found with it. To have this product says a Lot about what else you can find!

It's like the same Asian store you've been to before, but the aisles are more narrower.

Vast selection of all kind of stuff: wraps, wonton skins, frozen dumplings, condiments and fresh veggies too! Stan (I think that’s his name-the younger one) has made excellent and accurate recommendations for bao, thin wonton wrappers and Xiao long bao etc.
