The most interesting reviews
- I’ve rented cars from Avis for years and have always been treated with respect. The cars I receive are always clean and fairly low mileage. The only issue I’ve had with their cars is once about ten years ago I had a flat tire. They dispatched a technician who swapped out the flat tire for the donut spare. I drove to the nearest Avis about 2 miles down the road from where I was staying and exchanged the car.
- So, I'd booked here after getting a great deal, and then read the horror stories. I considered moving to Miami airport but in the end, decided I'd take the advice in the reviews and do things slightly differently.
I first noted that the shuttle bus seemed very hit-and-miss, so I decided to get a taxi. Then I saw it got busy as people arrived at the location, so I got there early. Actually, before they opened. I was on Virgins Scarlett Lady and off the ship by 8an, straight into a cab from the port entrance (don't bother with an Uber, you may get an unexpected security queue (of course, only 2 people checking a massive 1500-passenger ship is fine), and then have to pay a $6 cancellation fee as I did. Anyway back to Avis, the cab cost me $10. I actually saw the shuttle dropping people off once I left the location to get my car, so it was a good call. Though there were only 2 people onboard. Once at the location ( I got there around 810), I had to wait for it to be unlocked and then was seen by Kurshante. My car was booked for 9, and she said I was early but would look after me which was nice. 15 minutes later, I was behind the wheel of a clean white VW Tiguan and on my way. So my advice. 1. Get there early, get off the ship and be at the office as soon as it opens. 2. Take a taxi, for $10 it'll save you waiting and get you to the front of the queue. Then you'll be on your way in no time!
