In the heart of Hallandale, Dr. Limon Ceviche Bar (Suite #107) operates on a deliciously quirky premise: that the best medicine for the soul is a prescription of citrus and spice. This isn't your standard Peruvian eatery; it’s a high-energy, "medical-themed" gastronomic laboratory where the decor and the menu play along with the doctor’s office motif.
Founded by Chef Carlos Brescia (nicknamed "Dr. Limon" by his peers for his surgical precision with acidic flavors), this Hallandale Beach destination specializes in "healing" diners with the freshest seafood in South Florida.
The Dr. Limon "Diagnosis"
The Surgical Menu: Every dish follows the medical theme. You don't just order an appetizer; you order a "Prevention" (like the Anestesia—a rich seafood cream). Your main course is a "Treatment," and if you're feeling particularly "ill," you might require an "Intensive Care" platter.
The "Ceviche Lab": The stars of the show are the ceviches, prepared with "prescriptions" of Leche de Tigre (Tiger’s Milk).
Remedio Casero: A classic traditional mix.
Fiebre Amarilla: A yellow pepper-infused sauce that adds a slow, therapeutic heat.
Cure for All: A massive medley of seafood that serves as the ultimate "recovery" meal.
The Pisco Pharmacy: The bar is stocked with an array of "Tonics," primarily centered around Pisco—the national spirit of Peru. Whether it’s a classic Pisco Sour or a passionfruit-infused "Vaccine," the cocktails are designed to be the perfect anesthetic for a long work week.
Nikkei Fusion: Dr. Limon excels at the intersection of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine. You’ll find "Surgical Rolls" (Sushi) that blend traditional raw fish techniques with Peruvian ingredients like sweet potato, aji amarillo, and fried calamari.
The Hallandale Vibe
Located at 801 N Federal Hwy, the atmosphere is a far cry from a sterile clinic. It’s vibrant, loud, and modern, featuring industrial-chic lighting and a staff that treats every table with the urgency of a "Code Delicious." It’s the go-to spot for Hallandale locals who want the sophistication of a Miami "scene" without the commute.
The Philosophy: "Life is short, but the treatment should be long." Chef Brescia believes that acidity, freshness, and spice are the keys to vitality, and every plate is a "dose" of Peruvian culture.
Established in 2012 in the heart of Kendall by Chef Carlos Brescia and partners Jose Antonio Combina, Fiorella Terrazas, Dr. Limon was creatively designed from scratch to go with the theme of a Medical institution.
The creative theme, from the plates to the servers jackets, were all designed and created to go with one another in an all around real world theme. From the presentation of the plates to the logistics of handling a hot and cold kitchen, Chefs Carlos Brescia are known for the dedication and one-of-a-kind taste that you will experience with every plate as you indulge into your own delightful pleasure bite after bite.
Since we only use the freshest ingredients available as well as helping our local farmers and product providers, our plates are accessible to every type of food enthusiast, vegetarian, meat and fish lovers alike!
The most interesting reviews
- We went to have lunch there. The atmosphere was nice and comfortable. The service was friendly and helpful. The waitress gave us the special of the day. He told us what he likes in the menu. He also recommended some cocktails. The food was fresh and delicious. The price is a little on the high side. We got recommended by a friend. We are definitely recommending others now.
We gave them 9.8 out of 10
- Been here twice to try different things because everything is good! The sushi is amazing! Their spring rolls are delicious, and the meat is so good!!
- I ordered “Pescado al lo Macho”. I did not expect the awesomeness. But wasn’t I spectacularly surprised? Creamy sour and salty enough to please my taste buds. I tell you this much. I tried a lot of seafood dishes. But this one take the first place buy far.
Could tell the waiter was not working there for a long time (hence the 4 stars) for service. Nevertheless everything else 5 stars only because 5 is the maximum I could select
