MENU>>>

Sitting on the legendary North Federal Highway, Jack’s Hollywood Diner at 1031 N Federal Hwy is a shimmering time capsule of 1950s Americana.

Since it first opened its doors in 1953, it has transitioned from a local secret to a South Florida landmark. It is the kind of place where the neon hums, the coffee is bottomless, and the "Sorry, We’re Open" sign greets you with the classic, tongue-in-cheek humor that has defined the diner for over 70 years.

The Vibe: Art Deco Meets "Nighthawks"

Walking into Jack’s is like stepping onto a film set—and literally, it has been; the diner has served as a backdrop for several TV shows and movies. The atmosphere is a masterclass in nostalgic charm:

The Decor: The walls are a curated museum of vintage license plates, classic signs, and "kitsch" memorabilia.

The Energy: On weekend mornings, it’s a high-energy community hub packed with locals. At 3:00 AM, it transforms into a scene reminiscent of Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks—a serene, neon-lit sanctuary for night owls and shift workers.

What Makes Jack’s Unique

The "True" 24-Hour Cycle: In a world where "24/7" is becoming rare, Jack’s remains a tireless anchor. Whether you want a ribeye steak at sunrise or a stack of pancakes at midnight, the kitchen never sleeps.

The Prankster’s Entrance: Keep an eye on the front door—one of the handles is a "fake" designed to trick first-timers, a small nod to the diner's playful, family-owned spirit.

The Southern-Grit Fusion: While it serves classic New York-style diner fare, it is famous for its Southern soul. You’ll find authentic biscuits with homemade sausage gravy, grits that "taste like grandma’s," and some of the best country-fried steak in Broward County.

Family Legacy: Still family-owned, the staff often addresses regulars as "Honey" or "Doll," providing that authentic, warm service that corporate chains simply cannot replicate.

The "Must-Order" Menu Hits

The "Super Breakfast": A massive spread that includes eggs, various meats (from little smokies to Polish sausage), and their legendary home fries.

The Triple-Decker Club: Specifically, the Chicken Salad Club, a bold and crunchy favorite among the lunch crowd.

The Dessert Case: Do not leave without a slice of the Southern Pecan Pie or the Apple Pie, which are often served warm and are widely considered the best in the city.

The Milkshakes: Hand-spun, thick, and served in the classic metal mixing tin.

The Experience

The Arrival: There is plenty of parking in the back, but the front counter is where the action is. Snag a stool to watch the short-order cooks work their magic with lightning speed.

The "Lulu" Factor: The waitstaff here are career professionals. They know the menu by heart, they remember your "usual," and they move with an efficiency that is a spectacle in itself.

The Merchandise: Before you leave, check out the "Jack's" branded hats and T-shirts at the cashier—it’s the unofficial uniform of Hollywood, FL locals.

The Verdict: Jack’s Hollywood Diner is the "living room of the highway." It’s where history, comfort food, and 24-hour hospitality collide to create an experience that feels like a warm hug from the 1950s.

The most interesting reviewsStopped in while on vacation with my family. Breakfast was delicious. My French toast was perfectly made. Our server, Sharonda, was friendly and funny. We had a nice meal and will be back next time we’re in town. Stopped here and it is open 24 hours. Service was friendly and quick. Food is amazing and plentiful. Prices super reasonable for today and portions are good size. I had the Meatlovers omelet and my daughter had the Spanish Skillet! Wonderfully greasy beacon of Americana on federal highway. Jack’s Hollywood Diner focuses on the classics: big breakfasts, lunch staples, and milkshakes all served on aging boomerang patterned Formica tables.

Their breakfast selection includes hearty omelettes, sweet creations, and standard 2-2-2 platters. I tried the ham steak, it was very filling and came along with some grilled pineapple. The hash browns were perfect. This isn’t a flashy place at all. It’s a quintessential diner that feels so familiar in the best roadside pit stop kind of way. Worth a visit if you’re in the area and searching for American dishes.

This old diner has been around forever. Most of the people there are locals. The food is good. They cook it pretty fast. And it's reasonably priced. Don't look for upscale dining here, but you'll sure have a good time. We return every year multiple times.

Came at 10 o clock on a cold and rainy night. Was the only was in the restaurant for a while. Still got the best service and top tier food. The vibe was so immaculate the servers so sweet, really made me feel like I was in a dinner back in the 80's.

Was in the Fort Lauderdale area - so we decided to try this for a late breakfast on a Thursday - it was PERFECT & got a table right away at 10:15am

Server was so kind and attentive and when we asked about favorites on the menu she happily gave us feedback.

We all enjoyed our breakfast !

We stopped in at around 11 pm on a Thursday (1/22/25) after landing at FLL. The place wasn’t terribly empty, considering the time, but we got a booth immediately. Service was EXPEDITIOUS, and the waitress was SUPER friendly. This place gives serious old retro US diner vibes, down to the decor and ripped booth. It’s not new or fancy or super shiny, and that’s the charm.

And the food…

chef’s kiss

Seriously. We got steak and eggs and had low expectations (but we do love diner food). We ordered rare, and it came more like medium, well done on the edges. But it tasted AMAZING. Deliciously seasoned and still super TENDER. (I hope you can tell emphatic I’m trying to be with all the capital letters.) The potatoes were sooooo good, and the eggs were literally perfect.

We’ve flown into FLL MANY, many times, but I think we just found a new tradition.

There aren’t enough of these places anymore, especially where we come from. So yeah, we loved it. And thanks for the excellent service.

For a while it had changed hands and was more like Russian cuisine, but now it's back to good old Jack's!!

There are very few vegetarian options, and since I was hoping to try the French toast, but not 6 slices of it, I figured I would order the meal that is 2 slices French toast + 2 eggs + like.. three different types of meats. I don't eat meat so I gently asked if they could substitute the pile of sausage&bacon&canadianbacon.. for a small side of breakfast potatoes or grits. The lady at the counter just barked at me "no substitutions!" and then turned her back to me.
This is lazy business practice and tells me that this restaurant probably won't survive. Their in-house food cost of a small scoop of potatoes is much cheaper compared to three types of different meats. I would have been saving them money, and time, by having that substitution. If they were smart they would always allow substitutions for an option that costs them less money than the option on the menu . And if it's a substitution that costs more then charge an extra $2 or whatever. But because they have this non-negotiable decree, they have lost my business. Not that they ever wanted my business to begin with, since they put meat on virtually every single meal on the menu. (And french toast is not listed amongst the side dishes which would be smart of them as well. It's a shame because I'm new in town, renting very close to there and would have loved a good 24-hour option!
