When your voice is your livelihood, or even just your primary way of connecting with the world, losing it can feel like losing a piece of yourself. In the Atlanta area, Dr. Robert J. Andrews has become the specialist that professional singers, speakers, and everyday patients turn to when they need world-class ear, nose, and throat care. Based at the Atlanta Institute for ENT on Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Dr. Andrews is a board-certified otolaryngologist with a rare sub-specialty in Laryngology—the study and care of the professional voice. He is often the final stop for patients who have struggled with chronic hoarseness, vocal cord nodules, or sinus issues that haven't responded to standard treatments.

Dr. Andrews brings a level of training to Atlanta that is usually reserved for major coastal research hubs. He graduated with honors from both Stanford University and the University of Florida College of Medicine, later completing a rigorous residency at UCLA Medical Center. To further his expertise, he finished a prestigious fellowship in Laryngology and Care of the Professional Voice at Vanderbilt University. This background makes him uniquely qualified to handle the most delicate airway and vocal cord surgeries, as well as complex sinus procedures. Because he has spent over 30 years in the field—serving as a Chief of Otolaryngology and a clinical professor—he approaches every case with the seasoned hands of a veteran and the analytical mind of an academic.

What truly makes a visit to Dr. Andrews’s office at 5670 Peachtree Dunwoody Road stand out is his reputation for being exceptionally thorough. Patients frequently describe him as a "doctor’s doctor," noting that he takes the time to listen to your entire health history rather than just checking off symptoms. He is known for providing an accurate diagnosis where others may have been stumped, particularly when it comes to chronic sinusitis or rare voice disorders. Despite his high-profile list of celebrity clients and long list of "Top Doctor" awards, he is praised for a down-to-earth bedside manner that makes complex medical options easy to understand for any patient.

Affiliated with Northside Hospital, Dr. Andrews offers a seamless connection to some of the best surgical facilities in Georgia. His practice is a one-stop-shop for ENT health, featuring everything from low-radiation CT scans to cutting-edge allergy testing and voice therapy. He accepts a wide variety of insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and Cigna, ensuring that elite-level care is accessible to the local community. For the diverse residents of the metro area, his ability to consult in both English and Spanish provides an extra layer of clarity and comfort. I saw Dr. Andrews after having a poor experience wth another ENT. Right off the bat, Dr. Andrews came across as thoroughly professional and a great listener. He made sure he understood my issues, followed through with the proper imaging, explained everything to me, and gave me a solid gameplan moving forward. I left his office 100% satisfied. Great doctor.

The front desk staff is great, as is the audiologist, however, I would say my consistent experience with Dr. Andrews wasn't good. I felt that each time I had an appointment (3 times in one year's time) that it/the provider would be very machine-like. I would wait for quite a bit of time (in the exam room, and objectively a long time) to be seen, and once we would interact with him- there was no "Hey how're you?" , warmth, compassion, or the type of care that would make most feel seen/heard. Just very disappointing bedside manner. It was "doc walks into the room, "what brings you here?", "lets do this for it", then out you go...good luck." type of experiences. Similar other reviews- I too, on my first appt, was asked to immediately do a couple of things in office, that I wasn't educated would rack up a large bill.

Besides being an established patient, I don't know why I went back for appt 2 or 3 as I had already shared with others that my experiences weren't great. My final appointment left me in a great feeling of despair which triggered major anxiety and panic with a diagnosis that, while it already existed, was majorly triggered by the lack of compassion, counseling for treatments, referrals, or anything that would be able to help a patient navigate and manage such a condition that takes major coping/adjustments to deal with. I would not recommend this provider to anyone.

Within 3 days, I had a second opinion from a provider who was willing to listen, coach, and aid in helping with finding multiple ways to cope and see a light at the end of the tunnel. While my diagnosis didn't change, my outlook and mindset did because of a provider with a great bedside manner and true compassion for their patients.
